I like for my children, paintings.
They love my paintings my children.
I miss them a lot then I thought that this is the right way to make other children happy,
they are in hospital, they need help, they need happiness, so this is the best way to
make other children happy.
Maybe my children will be happy and they'll be fine.
The department and Serco have run an art program and activities program here at Curtin
since the centre opened in July 2010.
One of the great things about this art program is that it keeps people active, it gives
them an outlet and it keeps them busy and engaged.
One of the great things we've been able to do here is do a number of paintings for the
hospital in Derby in particular in the children's ward.
They have really enjoyed giving back to the Derby community.
Look my first reaction when we saw the paintings was just the volume of the work that the
guys had all done.
And secondly I was a bit stunned when the client said that this was the first time that
they'd done any artwork.
There's that great picture we've got in the corridor there of what I'd describe as the
lavender fields of France but it sort of brings back a few memories of some of my trips
that I've done.
Also helps us 'cause we need a bit of cheeriness, I mean when kids are sick and they're
feeling a little bit you know, sort of, push that just adds to that whole sort of family
like atmosphere that we've got around here.
Look I've seen some absolutely amazing artwork by our clients.
They're very, very talented artists and you can see they're really passionate about what
they do and they demonstrate their feelings and they will paint things from their past or
they'll copy other pictures and they really do express themselves through their art.
