(Tony Evers) >> The school districts
across Wisconsin have partnered with their
local technical colleges to offer kids the opportunity
to earn high school credit and college credit simultaneously.
Thanks to these partnerships, we're meeting students
where they are, engaging them in rigorous college-level
experiences and providing them with the credentials that they
can take to the next level, or even to the workplace.
(Jim Wessing) >> It's a partnership of education,
community and businesses.
And what you have behind us here, is the results of that.
This is a state-of-the-art welding lab,
in a state-of-the-art tech-ed department, in a small high school.
Think about that. (Clapping)
(Sheila Ruhland) >> They truly, along with many
other businesses, are role models,
and exemplify the quality educational and business partners.
(Morna Foy) >> We're having this event, in large part today,
not just to celebrate your achievements and
what you guys are working on, but to promote the opportunity
to do Dual Credit throughout the state,
so that other high school students and other high schools
will get interested, and start asking for those opportunities,
pushing the envelope with their technical college to create new ...
better ... more variety in the opportunities that we make available.
(Wessing) What's done here, can be done everywhere in this state.
(Foy) This lab really is phenomenal, and I've been to a lot of them
in the past few months and this parallels
a lot of the things we have going on at our colleges.
Your partnership is really an inspriring example for other employers
in the state. And you're right: If you can do it here in Lomira,
you can do it anywhere; so thank you very much, sir.
