Hey, there, cool cats, this is the Hi Fi Guy again. I certainly hope that you're enjoying
a great day just like I am. And today I'm going to try to help you make a great day
even better by telling you about the Shure SRH400 Professional Studio Headphones. If
you haven't seen it already, I would encourage you to also watch another video about the
SRH400 Stereo Headphones on the sister site, www.hifiguy.org. That video shares several
review summaries to show you what people have to say about the Shure SRH400 after they have
already owned and used the product. For your convenience I'll bring that link up again
later in this video. But the purpose of the video that you're watching right now is to
tell you about the features of the SRH400 Studio Headphones so that you can determine
for yourselves if this is what you're really looking for.
When a professional buys a set of headphones for his recording studio he looks for several
important qualities like Clear, accurate sound reproduction,
A wide frequency range, And adjustable power levels with
Low distortion And an equal balance of
Sparkling high tones, Clear mid tones, and
Deep, accurate base. The ideal professional stereo headphones should
have high sound isolation to block unwanted outside
noise, And yet be versatile enough to allow surrounding
sounds to penetrate when the user needs to hear what's going on around him.
Since he is likely to need them for many hours of listening,
He needs a set of headphones that will stay comfortable for long, extended listening sessions,
And that are made with a sturdy, durable construction. That's also what home users would like, but
often the price of a set of professional headphones is far too high to justify for personal home
use. But now the Shure company has combined all
these professional qualities into a set of stereo headphones that fits well within the
affordable price range for most home users in the
Shure SRH440
Professional Studio
Stereo Headphones.
Sensitivity, power handling and impedance are optimized for home listening and are calibrated
for professional audio equipment like DJ mixers,
headphone amplifiers, and mixing consoles, so that these headphones
work great with virtually all professional and
household consumer audio devices. If you want a set of headphones with a heavy
emphasis on bass, the SRH440 might not be what you're looking for.
But if you want equal balance over an extended frequency range, this is probably
what you need. Powered by a set of
40mm dynamic neodymium drivers and optimized for reference monitoring,
The SRH440 delivers an accurate sound reproduction over an extended frequency range of 10 hertz
- 22,000 hertz with a sensitivity of 105 dB/mW at 1000 hertz
and an impedance of 44 0hms at 1000 hertz and a maximum input power of 1500 mW at 1000
hertz for deep bass tones,
clear mid tones, and sparkling highs with professional level
sound reproduction. The low base range of
10 hertz with the high of 22,000 hertz is an outstanding feature for any set of headphones,
especially since the normal human hearing range only goes down
as low as 12 hertz, and normally goes up only as high as about 20,000 hertz.
The SRH440 design supports outstanding noise isolation with its
closed-back feature and soft, replaceable foam cushions on
circum-aural ear cups which fit snugly around your ears, so that virtually no sound bleeds
out to annoy those who are around you and virtually no outside noise can penetrate.
But for applications where you need to hear what's going on around, like studio recording,
the ear cup is hinged and can be flipped out so that you can listen to the headphones and
to outside sounds both at the same time. The 44 ohms of impedance, and the
500mW maximum power input make the sound so powerful that, if you take the headphones
off, they are almost loud enough to use as speakers.
The SRH440 are meant to be comfortable during extended listening sessions with soft over-ear
foam cushions and a padded vinyl headband
that adjusts for a snug comfortable fit to virtually any sized head, and
with a weight of just 9.6 oz (that is, 272 g) [though some do complain that the earcups
can get a bit hot and uncomfortable during long listening sessions].
The long, detachable and
replaceable, oxygen-free copper
coiled cable stretches to a length of 9.8 feet (3.0 m) to provide plenty of extra
length without dragging on the floor, and it attaches into the ear cup with a gold-plated
bayonet clip which twists to lock securely into place.
And the Shure SRH440 is also built for durability with an elegant, flexible but rugged, sturdy
construction, replaceable, soft foam circum-aural ear cushions,
and the replaceable, long, coiled, oxygen-free
copper cable, so that, in the unlikely event that the cable should be damaged, it can be
replaced without the need to throw away the whole set.
The cable attaches into audio devices with a gold-plated, 1/8 inch (3.5 mm) stereo mini
jack, and when needed, screws into the threaded,
gold-plated, 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) adapter which comes with the headphones.
And for storage and portability, the Shure SRH440 stereo headphones collapse and fold
to fit into the handy carrying bag. And to make sure that the purchase is safe,
the Shure SRH440 Professional Studio Headphones come with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty.
I hope that you have found all this information helpful. If you're not already there, you

www.hifiguy.org to watch another video that tells you what people think about the SRH440
Professional Studio headphones after they have actually owned and used the product.

great day.
