Farmer-Led Research in Uganda
Farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa often have low yields and lack relevant production information.
To respond to this, Horticulture CRSP researcher are training farmers in Uganda to indentify
issues and create their own production knowledge.
For example, late blight is the most important disease for tomatoes in Uganda.
So farmers establish test plots to test new varieties and evaluate new management techniques
like staking and pruning.
Farmers collect data to select the best varieties and methods.
Farmers then share their results to boost yields and incomes.
