How to sublimate coated metal products
You will need
Sublimation ready metal licence plate
Sawgrass sublimation inks
Two sheets of protective paper
Sublimation transfer paper
High temperature oven gloves
Create your image using graphics program like CorelDraw or Photoshop
Check with substrate manufacture if there are templates available to help with a setup
Make the artwork for sublimation slightly larger than the substrate - about 5 mm on each side
When sending the design to the printer use the proper setting in your Sawgrass colour management software to ensure the best quality
Print the images you wish to apply using Sawgrass sublimation inks and a compatible inkjet printer
Don't forget to remove the protective plastic coating
Set the temperature of the press to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C)
Adjust the pressure to medium (2.76 bar)
Set the timer to 60-180 seconds
Place a sheet of protective paper onto the bottom platen of the press
Lay the transfer paper face up and the licence plate printable side face down
The image should be slightly larger than the substrate itself
Place another sheet of protective paper over the substrate
Close the press and begin the sublimating process
Open the press and remove the top layer of the protective paper
Put on the high temperature oven glove
Gently but quickly, flip the licence plate up and away from the transfer paper
This should be done smoothly to prevent any blurring of the ink
Please note that the metal will be extremely hot
There are many different types of coated metal products that can be sublimated using the same basic process
