Positivity is a choice, it takes just as much effort to be positive as it does to be negative.
Somebody who's looking at their world through positive eyes is going to embrace challenges
as opportunities. They're going to look at failures as potential. They have a way of
twisting and turning and bending information to make it work in their favor. Now I'm not
talking about being delusional; you know if something bad happens, something bad happens.
But a positive person is going to take that bad circumstance and process it in a very
genuine, real way and then try to use that to their benefit. Positive people get positive
results because they don't allow it to happen any other way. Negativity becomes a self-fulfilling
prophecy. If somebody is negative, we need to understand that that's their mind-set,
that's their frame of reference, that's their agreement with reality and all we can do is
encourage them to get the help and the support that they need, to let them know that there's
a whole other way that they can view their circumstances. The doors are always open;
a positive person is going to just know to look for them. Where a negative person has
already convinced themselves that there are no open doors. So the negative person actually
is very good at getting their needs met, because they live in that "victim" mentality where
everybody's against them and everything is happening to them. A positive person is going
to look at everything and say, "Everything is happening FOR me" and you know this situation
was really bad but I'm going to trust that there's some benefit that is going to come
out of it; so, I'm gonna look for the benefit. Now that's a lot easier said than done, which
is why it's so important that you have a support system and it's so important that you have
people in your life who love you and who celebrate you and whom you can trust.
