hey this is Mikey with another After Effects tutorial and in this tutorial
initially had to do the school double exposure
look as seen on the new HBO show true detected
up
and make sure you go check out the actual titles

I don't know if the way I'm doing it is the actual way that they did for the
titles
just what I had come up with now before I get into the toilet when I encourage

I have these clips here I've got four different video clips can be using for this.
So there's the one that the first one,
the second one is above the trees
and I have some Dustin lens flare
and what I'm gonna be doing as I'm going to pack is all these clips up together
I'm with the download so you can just go download them and tested out with this
footage
I do must warn you it's not the best footage the colors were a little bit of
on the screen screen
but it will get the job done so just follow the link in the description

this footage and try for yourself
now what I wanna do is on a first set up this tree footage
to work the way I wanted to you so I'm going to take this
selected and pre compose so command shift seeing will bring my pre composed
I like box
all-race remove all attributes I call these
trees any creates a new composition was going to this new composition
now what makes the original um look
kinda have a nice 3d depth to it
is there some parallax in going on with the trees and this footage
I have it doesn't do that so
in order to create that look wanna do is and duplicate
this top layer going to the mod
said to multiply much is kinda move it to a different spot
and then let's take and affect
go to color correction and is Kors will do
and that's crank this up until you don't see a hard-line
was gonna go into the blue and wrote the blue
a little bit try to make things kinda mesh together
now what I want to do is first
its high this top layer let's go to the bottom where
I want to scale this up so hit s on the keyboard brings up my scale
animes gonna move so it's about right like this
let's turn this top layer back on again and I'm going to
really can distort this I wanna put in a slightly different spot
hippie on the keyboard the composition thing go to the end
hang in a move it just a little bit
and maybe I'll take this top one and movie
over here so
okay now nothing I can do
it's coming hearing it with the carriers go back to the RGB
and maybe bring the black is a little bit blacker
okay so that's basically all we can do with this comes Ishan let's go back into
come three and so that's what the
it looks like when I'm gonna do now as I'm going to and affect
color correction tent
and then effect color correction
levels and you can see right here this is
kinda ramping up in lot serve this value here is kinda can now and I want

and I just keep this out when you ski light and does a pretty good job I'm

color correction tent in effect
color correction curves and I'm gonna
really kind of crank this a little bit I wanna
create a nice black and white gradient man after I've done this
you know pre composes a commission see I'm gonna call this
Aaron gradient
I can just hide is down below
I can even turn it off so they are on the streets later
gonna go to affect distort displacement map
and for the displacement map layer many uses their ingredient and what I can do
as I can come in you can see here
it's looking like aaron is displacing

okay think that's looking pretty good
so that's the first step now the next step after this
can take this Aaron composition again
this footage later duplicated turn this on
I want to do here is I'm gonna go into the key light
wears his final results thing i switch set to screen mad

and then from here I'm going to pre composes a command ship see
move all the attributes and what this is going to be called
is age mask come back into
this composition and let's create

grab a pen tool an inning make
big upside-down trapezoid type thing
and then let's go to FX blur
bass player Ambler that so it kinda matches
with what's going on here and I might have to go in and
just position so hippie on a keyboard brings position
call the and the composition
kinda movies so it'll come track along that's about all I need for this look
go back into the main composition and then again
Liz duplicate the Aaron layer let's turn this on
and has come into now luma matte but
I need to do limit inverted and when it's done
as you can see there's the edge
you can still see kind of creeping in the edge and if I wanna just that
let's go back in the edge mask click on the air in
and let's go in hand lock this there's a little lock icon right here
and we can lock that go back in the comp 3
and now let me come into the screen meant and
I can adjust the screen shrinking grow
softness something like that to get it
the way I want and I like that
so that's come back onto this
Aaron layer here me edge
Aaron and let's go to effect
color correction and we want the
hue saturation and then affect color correction
we want curves Spurs bring down the saturation
and Matt increase the contrast
you bring down the lightness
okay
that's looking pretty good now let's at the background to this
so it's got a layer new solid
and let's pick kinda brownish color
okay was put this down at the bottom
and then we can do from here is just click on this layer the trees layer
and I'm going to click on the
transfer mode got more to play
and then what that does is it kinda brings this backer color
forward so that's the main part of this look
now to head the some fuel niceties at the end
also included is the dust
that's in the dow know that you can download and this is
to some dust particles and then again that's going to this
go to add but also someone slurs
so as we can look through huge national side lands where
with this someone same things got it had
and everything's gonna come in Brighton appear little bit
k'nex with add adjustment layer
and what I want to add to this is just vignette
so if you haven't already make sure you download my vignette preset
there's a link in the description
and has a nice little vignette you can
change the radius further over darkness to it
K and then one last thing I want to do before you add in the titles
is I wanna at cava edge blur and the way I like to do this
is with a brand new adjustment layer call this
edge blur should be naming these the whole time
yet kids go to the edge blur
could affect learn sharpen camera lens blur
K and the next we need to add a new solid
doesn't matter color Mingo to affect
generate green ramp
and this is going to create a ramp and I want to do a radio ramp
let's grab the points and have it center right in the middle
and ice big cover
real gradient new one black on the in the middle on this one
was gonna affect color correction go to levels
and what I wanted to hear someone I can I crash the the whites
for the blacks create more have a
big black circle in the center the Kang gradients out
after denying going to need a pre compose this
tumbler map that's good I can just turn this off
throw down the bottom so it's not a top and others come into this camera lens
blur
and for the blur map layer go back to that blur map
and what it's done his little blur the edges but keep the inside nice
and clean just this

I like how it can blurs at the at the bottom there in a lil bit on edge
my dad title
is really small crank it up a little bit
so as far as the color you don't want something that's
came in the same tone so I just the eyedropper
and was pic when these colors here I also like to put this down
near the bottom so that the blur kinda affects it as well
and then let's just go to the opacity in a keyframe in a hundred percent
I'll just moved over there bring this down to zero
and come here towards the end bring him back down to zero
and it looks like I had the game on the on the blur turn on which didn't work
when the when for came in so I just turn that off
let's take a look at it going to render the sound you can see what looks like
when we're done
okay so here it is all finished up now and some other things I like to do this
is
and a little bit a green you can might even do like a RGB split so
chromatic aberration or something to that effect it can have a little bit
more
distress looking to it now I didn't do that because again this is taking a long
time to render
in effect like this with all these different layers and
different transfer molding blurs and things like that
adds a lot rendering time: and this is only about three and a half seconds took
me a good couple
maybe three minutes the get through this whole ramp review
so that is a good example love how long this could take so be prepared for
rendering times with things like this
certain things could cut that down the displacement map
that we have right here to connect create this little were perfect that
will go down if you don't want to do that
also the edge blur will cut it down if you take that out as well
