The arena is calling, "An expert explains a technique",
This is our today's part about martial art technical discussion..
Standing now on our glorious WuLinDaHui fighting ring,
invited for you,
is our old friend at WuLinDaHui
and one of our jury expert,
the head of the KaiMen BajiQuan school,
Wu LianZhi ! Welcome prof. Wu !
How are you ?
Wu LianZhi,
courtesy named "HongHe",
from MengCun village, Hebei province,
7th generation inheritor of BajiQuan.
Prof. Wu, what kind of Baji technique
will you share with us in the following section ?
I will explain a movement typical of bajiQuan
and that differentiantes Baji from other martial arts.
A typical movement ?
It is called "LiangYi Zhuang" ...
"LiangYi Zhuang",
also called "LiangYi Ding Zhou",
is a typical and representative movement
of KaiMen BajiQuan.
Look, don't you think this movement is closely similar
to the shape of the "Wu" seal character ?
So, what importance does this movement
finally have in BajiQuan ?
In the Baji school,
it is the most fundamental skill,
that is used as a framework.
It differentiates Baji from other schools
When doing the XiaoJia taolu,
this is ChongTianPao (cannon shooting at the sky)
when coming back, this is also LiangYi (Yin & Yang principles)
this also originiates from this movement,
look, BiDi Zhou (closing elbow)
this is also LiangYi ...
This is the most fundamental movement,
this movement shaped BajiQuan.
The main movements of BajiQuan
are all based on the transformations of LiangYi Zhuang.
Hence the most fundamental point when training BajiQuan
is first to master this movement.
So, how can one do LiangYi Zhuang correctly
and obtain the expected results,
and get the typical flavor of BajiQuan ?
"The head pushes the blue sky",
means the body must be straight,
the BaiHui acupuncture point
is pointing straight toward the sky
"The feet are stepping deep in hell",
the two YongQuan points are grasping the ground,
The force components,
I mean the distribution of the forces :
the force pushing upward
is 40 %,
40% of the force,
the downwoard force
is 60 % ...
When speaking about fighting,
it can increase your fighting capacity (GongLi),
its function is to increase your capacity.
There is another function :
when not thinking about fighting,
it drives diseases away,
it treats illness,
it can prolong one's life...
Practicing ZhanZhuang can increase your capacity,
but is it really effective for keeping one in good health
and prolonging one's life ?
When doing ZhanZhuang, what kind of effect
do the major points BaiHui and YongQuan have ?
Concerning this question,
we specifically interviewed
prof. Fu GuoBing,
who is professor at Beijing chinese medecine University.
As a matter fo fact,
ZhanZhuang is a very good method for keeping in good health,
but what are the roots of this exercice ?
As a matter of fact,
we can say it has an effect of stretching yourself.
Namely the head,
this amounts to speaking of the BaiHui point,
in reality the BaiHui point is simply representing the whole head,
it must be pulled upward.
About the feet,
that is to say the YongQuan point,
YongQuan represents a whole foot,
it is pushing downward,
This amounts to stretching yourself.
It certainly has a positive effect
on muscles and joints.
This amounts to relieving
our ordinary tensions and contratctions,
and relieving some of our
small joint disorders.
Thus, ZhanZhuang is extremely beneficial
for rectifying the joints of the human body.
Training each day for 5 minutes,
will help to relieve tiredness.
The main point is to obtain the force
that consciously stretches your own body
40% upward, 60% downward,
straight feet,
centre of gravity right in the middle.
This typical LiangYi Zhuang of BajiQuan,
did you learn it right ?
