I have been working here for 10 years and there have been many pilgrims and anecdotes
Some pilgrims repeat and you see their faces again and again
and it is nice when they say hello to you
Many bring with them some souvenirs
In the old days stones from the quarry of Triacastela
were brought here in order to build up the cathedral
and now pilgrims bring all kind of souvenirs from their travel
As you may see, we have a lot of souvenirs from friends that had come to Santiago.
It is difficult to choose one or two anecdotes...
There was a pilgrim that came by herself on a wheelchair from Austria
When she arrived here other pilgrims carried her in their arms
When I first saw them I did not understand what was happening
but when they told me the story it was impossible for me not to be moved
There was also an American pilgrim who travelled from one little church devoted to Santiago in the West coast
to a similar church in the East coast
then he took a plane to another little church in Germany
and finally he walked the Road in order to get to Santiago
There is a French pilgrim that spends all his holidays helping here
He has walked the Road from Jerusalem
from Romeů a wonderful person
As many of the pilgrims which come.
Pilgrims are patient
During the way they walk six kilometers per hour
so they have had time enough to think about lifeů
and they know that things go slow
so when they arrive here they are used to this rhythm
