The gouge, the spindle gouge can also be used to make beads on a tool, on your work. One
of the things you do to start this off is to take your skew, make two v-cuts at each
side. You want to get a little bit of relief in. You then take your spindle gouge, starting
at the top in the center, bring it down, raise your handle and twist. If you don't start
with your v-cut on your relief you are not going to be able to rotate to the sides. Again
bring it around until your top edge of the skew is almost perpendicular. You want to
try to do a smooth rotating motion to prevent any type of dimple within the work. You can
also typically finish it off on the opposite side by rotating it in to the center.
