The last performance characteristic of Metalphoto that we will demonstrate in this video is
its chemical resistance. Metalphoto has exceptional chemical resistance to strong solvents that
are used to clean up graffiti-type defacement. Here, Metalphoto is on the left and a painted
aluminum marker is on the right. Both have been purposely defaced with spray paint that
has been allowed to fully cure. As we clean both samples, using acetone, you can see that
the Metalphoto marker is unaffected, while the painted aluminum marker's image is attacked
along with the graffiti by the solvent.
The samples here have been exposed to hydrochloric acid. The acid was allowed to remain on the
surface for 20 hours. The sample on the left is Metalphoto. The sample on the right, a
competing material, is laser etched aluminum. The image on the Metalphoto sample is unaffected
and the bar code still scans. The image on the laser etched aluminum sample has become
badly pitted and is difficult to read. Here are a few other chemicals that exhibit
no effect upon Metalphoto. For more details on the chemical resistance of a particular
chemical listed below, you can refer to the Metalphoto Specification Sheet by Electromark,
available on our website, Electromark.com. Metalphoto is exceptionally durable, widely
specified and always readable. These features make it the ideal tag and label material for
these harsh environment applications. To order Metalphoto by Electromark, call 800-295-8247
