From defensive back, to a Big Mac, James Thrower is building a proud legacy for
his family and community that started right here at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
James was a three sport athlete at East Texas State University, where he
participated on the lions football, basketball, and track and field teams.
After college, he had a five year career in the NFL, where he played two
seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles and three seasons with the Detroit Lions.
When his football career was over, he served as a loan executive and as an
executive assistant to the board chairman of the NAACP. He now
serves on the City of Detroit Board of Water Commissioners as President CEO
of Jam Jomar Incorporated, and is the owner of seven McDonald's restaurants
in Detroit and the surrounding metropolitan area. James Thower is an
active member of many corporate and community groups that include the
McDonald's Operators National Advertising Committee, National Black
McDonald's Operators Association, Ronald McDonald Children's Charities, National
Football League Alumni Players Association, National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People, Golden Heritage and the Omega Psi Phi
Fraternity. Texas A&M University-Commerce is proud to proclaim Mr. James
Thrower as a member of the distinguished alumni.
