Fugly is an upcoming Bollywood movie that will be directed by Kabir Sadanand. The film
will feature Jimmy Shergill, Mohit Marwah, Vijender Singh, and Kiara Advani. Singh has
described the movie as "a social thriller film with a message" and that it will
"come out with a strong message". The movie was originally slated to release on May 16,
2014, but has been postponed to avoid clashing with the release of Heropanti.
Plans for Fugly were announced in 2013, and actors such as Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar
were confirmed to be performing in the film. Filming for Fugly was initially intended to
begin in September 2013, but was delayed until October of the same year.
Filming took place in Delhi and Mumbai, and the film's key songs was shot in March 2014.
Olympic bronze-medalist Vijender Singh will be seen in a social thriller film backed by
actor Akshay Kumar. The film, titled Fugly, will be helmed by
Kabir Sadanand. It will be produced by Akshay's Grazing Goat Pictures (owned by him and Ashvini
Yardi). "We have Vijender in our film. He was perfect
for the role. He will go through acting workshops as well," Sadanand said.
The makers were in discussions about this project with Vijender, 27, since quite some
time. "It is a social thriller film with a message.
The film will come out with a strong message," Sadanand said while refusing
to divulge details about the issue that the film will highlight.
Besides Vijender, there will be other actors as well, but the director refused to talk
about the star cast of the film. "We have some actors in our wish list but
we would not like to take any names," Sadanand said.
The film will go on floors in August. Besides this, Kabir is looking forward to
his next film Golu Aur Pappu, an out-and-out comedy that stars Vir Das and Kunal Roy
Kapoor of 'Delhi Belly' fame. "The shooting is over. The film is in post
production stage. We are looking for a release date," Kabir said.
After the success of their first venture OMG: Oh My God!, Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi
are all set to have you on the edge of your seat with their next release, Fugly.
Fugly is a light hearted, socio-thriller set in against the backdrop of Delhi.
The film is slated for release on 16 May 2014. Produced by the ‘Grazing Goat Pictures’
known for its content backed entertainers and directed by Kabir Sadanand, Fugly,
is shot extensively in Delhi, Haryana and the breathtaking locations of Leh. It is a
story of four friends: Dev, Devi, Gaurav and Aditya and how this
carefree bunch, at the threshold of their lives, get caught in a ‘Fugly’
incident which sucks them slowly into the big bad world of corruption, politics and
the real Delhi. This puts the best of friends through the most bizarre life changing
events! The central characters are played by an ensemble
of some of the freshest faces to be launched which includes Mohit Marwah,
World Champion Boxer Vijender Singh, Kiara Advani, Arfi Lamba and Jimmy Sheirgill who
for the first time plays a totally negative character.
Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi’s upcoming production venture, Fugly, which marks the
Bollywood debut of India’s boxing champion Vijender Singh
and Anil Kapoor’s nephew Mohit Marwah was slated to release on May 16. However, we have
learnt that the actor has postponed the release of the film. Why? That’s because Sajid Nadiadwala’s
Heropanti, starring Jackie Shroff’s son, Tiger was also scheduled to release on the
same date. “Both Akshay and I share our individual
friendship with Sajid and we took the joint decision to inform him of moving out film’s
release. Both our movies are youth-oriented films and
are launching new talent in our industry. So it’s important to give both the films
the chance they deserve and it wouldn’t be fair to divide the audience. Although the
genres may be similar, their individual subject matters are very unique,” Ashvini was quoted
by a leading daily.
After roping in newbie's Vijender Singh and Mohit Marwah along with Arfi Lamba, Ashwini
Yardi and Akshay Kumar produced FUGLY finally goes on-floors today.
The first schedule of the film, which was earlier scheduled to go on-air in September,
got delayed by a month and has finally started in Delhi today.
"De shoot 4 @FuglyTheFilm started at 7 am dis morning with de beautiful Kiara Advani.
Can't believe dis is her 1st film .She is so natural !!," posted producer Ashwini Yardi
on a micro-blogging site.
After working together in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Bollywood superstars Salman Khan and Akshay
Kumar are all set to share screen space after a long gap of ten years.
Both actors will now be seen again in Akshay's latest home production - Fugly.
In fact, the latest news suggests that the ever-professional Akshay has been dedicating
all his time, even doing a rare double shift to shoot a
song for the film. According to a source close to a leading daily,
"Akshay always stays away from doing double shifts,
but he will be making an exception this time. In the first half of the day (9 am-2 pm),
he will be in Pune shooting for his next release, Gabbar.
He will then immediately leave for Mumbai to film the song
(for his own production), from 4 pm to 8 pm, with Salman at Mehboob Studio, Bandra. To
save the travel time, he has also hired a chopper.
Since he wants to reach the venue on time, he won't be stopping by at his Juhu home."
After the special song in 'Tees Maar Khan', B-Town's two power stars Salman Khan and Akshay
Kumar came together and danced to the title track
of 'Fugly'. The song was shot over two days at a studio
in Mumbai on four different set ups with choreography by Mudassar Khan. According to sources from
the unit, Akshay and Salman were on set throughout the entire time, learning and rehearsing the
steps along with the newcomers; the lead star cast of the film Mohit Marwah, Vijender Singh,
Arfi Lamba and Kiara Advani. The whole unit was impressed by their dedication and commitment.
Produced by Akshay & Ashwin Yardi's banner 'Grazing Goat Pictures' and directed by Kabir
Sadanand, 'Fugly', is shot extensively in Delhi, Haryana
and the breath-taking locations of Leh. Excited over the song's shooting producer Ashwin had
tweeted on location stills and wrote, "The big day
draws to an end.Wouldn't have been same without my 2 superstars!Thank u."
