I want to talk about learning. I want to talk about knowledge and the will and
the thrive and the drive to acquire knowledge. When I was younger over a
period I think I was 16 or 17 or so, I would go to the library on Sundays and
the task would be to basically read a book. Not like a like a thick fiction
fictional book but some kind of book that wasn't, well it was nonfiction but
it you know. There was some kind of knowledge in that book that would give
me the opportunity to be a much smarter, not smarter but broadly filled with
knowledge afterwards. Then I realized that this wasn't the best idea for my
social life to spend you know I don't know five six hours in the library every Sunday.
But that will to learn has never gone away and one of the things I
kind of said to myself before 2018, sort of like a New Year's Eve like a vow,
was that I would challenge myself to learn something new every week and
not just look up what's the capital of that country. But actually almost
like a project where on a Monday I would set the task. This week I'm going to
learn about this. It could either be pure knowledge about something or it could be
an actual skill, something physical like an instrument or something crafty or
something like that and kind of just devote not the entire week
obviously because I obviously have other obligations in my life called work and
the fact that I'm married, and I have a cat. But something that I would
see as a challenge. But I didn't set that as a resolution because one of the
things about resolutions is; make them so that you know that you can
sort of see it through and if you overload yourself with too many things
the risk is many of things are will just fall apart you know.
Quality over quantity. But I've been thinking about this and maybe, maybe I
should start doing it maybe every other week so one week I set the task on
Monday and then I show whatever I came up with on the Sunday and maybe I'll do
that every other week and I will document that and then I will start
releasing those episodes further on, maybe in the summer or in the fall when
I have plenty of them to go. You know challenging myself to not force myself
but sort of I got like a little carrot to make me want to learn something or
learn about something that I might not have much experience with.
I've been saying to my friend Sofia and I don't know I think it was my idea
that I would like to try out pole dancing for example. What would happen if
I tried out pole dancing two or three times. What would I go from to?
Or playing the guitar or something like that.
Something to challenge me into just having new experiences and trying new things.
I think that would be a cool thing. Do you have any of these?
Do you have this drive, the need to want to know more about something or want to
learn to do something or master something? Have you ever had that?
I mean, I think everyone who doesn't play the guitar for example have
always dreamt that I want to be able to play the guitar. I'm gonna be that guy
that picks up the guitar at a party and start ... and everybody's like wow!
I want to sleep with that person. Have you ever had stuff, you know thoughts like that?
Please do share because this week I just felt like something more
lighthearted and not just the problems in the world from my perspective but
something light-hearted. I think that also is a form of... good talk
