LJW Solar is installing a test system on our Dural property roof so that we can do some
comparisons of different things around that solar system. This system is located on an
office warehouse location. It’s a two kilowatt system made up of two one kilowatt arrays.
We’re using an EnaSolar inverter, which is made in New Zealand, and this particular
inverters let us do monitoring in real time and we can get the information from each array.
You can see from the pictures here that the system is going up and this is at the beginning
of October. In essence, because we have two one kilowatt arrays fed into the EnaSolar
inverter each array has the same aspect so should theoretically give identical performance.
This lets us change some things about each array. So, for example we could put one kilowatt
of Suntech panels on one array and of one kilowatt of another brand on the other array
so we can do a proper AB comparison test. We might also test these for the difference
between being flat or on tilts. We might also test such effects as partial shade by simulating
shade and putting something up in front of some of the panels. Over time we’ll come
up with a variety of things and make the changes on the system. This is relatively easy for
us to do because we have our own installation staff. We can get them to climb up and make
the changes from time to time. What we’ll do is report back on the results and put them
on this website so that you can see what matters and what doesn’t.
