It was the first school that had a great education program and I'm also from
six hours away and Fisher flew me up for free for a long weekend to look at the school.
And when I did I absolutely fell in love with it.
I've always known that I wanted to be a teacher since fourth grade.
I've always known that I wanted to be a teacher since fourth grade.
At the end of the year we had superlatives in my class and I was chosen "most likely to become a teacher."
So ever since then I've always had that as a possibility and I decided when I was graduating high
school that education was really what I wanted to go for.
I'm in Fisher Players. For the last three years I've been involved in the different plays and musicals.
I'm also on the Executive Board. I'm the club's Events Coordinator so that’s a lot of fun.
I'm involved in the ONE campaign. I helped to bring that club to campus and I'm also on the Executive Board of that.
I'm involved in National Residence Hall Honorary and I'm also a residence assistant on campus
and now that I'm a senior and an education major, I'm student teaching.
So right now I'm in a fifth grade inclusion classroom at Genesee Community Charter School.
It's hard for me to name a favorite memory of Fisher over the past four years.
But I'm also a Service Scholar and I'd have to say that one of the most meaningful parts of my college experience
has been the service that I've done here at my different service sites. Especially the service trips.
For two years I've gone down to New Orleans, Louisiana. This past summer I went down to Jamaica,
Kingston area and I went on junior JASY trip. Those are some of the
most meaningful experiences I've ever had in my life.
My favorite meal in the Ward/Haffey dining hall would definitely be Taco Tuesday.
It's always been a favorite of mine for the past four years.
When I walk across the stage I think a million things at once will be going through my head.
It will definitely be very bittersweet. I'll definitely have a sense of accomplishment and
pride for all that I've done here. But I'll definitely be sad to be leaving this place that’s been
my home for four years and all the friends that I've made.
After college I'm hoping to get a Resident Director position in a college in New York State
and from there I'd like to pursue my Master's in Education and eventually go back
to Long Island and hopefully get a teaching job in an elementary school.
I will definitely be coming back for reunions at Fisher.
This school has been such a large factor in the person that I've become and the friendships that I've made
and there is no way that I wouldn't be coming back to visit.
I really don’t think I'd change anything. Maybe my freshman year I'd become a little more involved.
I spent a lot of time with friends in the residence halls and going to different programs on my floor,
but I wasn't too involved in clubs or any leadership positions so maybe
I could have gotten involved a little earlier, but then again the friendships that I've made have lasted a lifetime.
I would say to get as involved as possible. The clubs and organizations I have
been a part of here at Fisher have completely shaped the person that I became
and I wouldn't trade that for the world. The four years here flies by so don't take anything
for granted and appreciate every moment.
