When is it necessary for forks to be replaced on a lift truck?
Well, they must be replaced when forks are bent, beyond 3% of length of the blade.
But more often, forks are dragged along floors, compromising their strength,
and downgrading the forks legal specifications.
The American National Standards Institute states,
forks shall be thoroughly checked for wear,
with special attention being paid to the area of the heel.
If the thickness is reduced to 90% of the original thickness,
the forks shall not be returned to service.
Surprisingly, forks in this condition lose a full 20% of their original rating.
Being both legal and safe is easy.
Just ask your Morrison Technician to perform a free inspection of your lift truck's forks.
It's a great time to do so.
Morrison's Annual Fork sale is happening through January,
so your company can catch the very best price on forks, right now.
