This thing starts in the street in 2011
we were four playing swing on that time.
we met Nata first in the 15M movement camp
and Dario also playing in the street
then we met Filgue who was playing recycled percussion alone
and the thing about the dancers that came after all this.
This country is living in a deep crisis and depression...
Swing was also the soundrack of the 20s crisis...
Maybe while being under pressure we need joy music even more
And joining this band I realized that swing is the new punk
More than 30.000 km
More than 12 countries
More than 500 street shows
I wish it would be more than just a dream
...believing in a project that was born in the streets in Madrid
and you think that you can export it
even to places that you never expected to go
like Istanbul...
Graz...
Novi Sad...
Skopje...
I don´t know... places you never had in mind
It´s craziness... today we did a lot of kms to get here
...a lot of cities... not only Budapest...
I,ve been performing in so many places
doing what I really enjoy
Madrid Council auditions for street musicians. December 2013
Hey! Are you the judges?
I guess you are musicians, aren´t you? Yes
Have you ever busked?
er... No... Well I played in Retiro Park a few times but you didn´t do you?
We attended the auditions just to say out loud
to the judges what we really thought about all this
Did you choose the eligible candidates already?
No... we just graded them
Grades? Like an exam? from 0 to 10?
Of course...
Having in thought the scales we were given
and our personal valuations
We are against all this (not against you as we uderstand it´s your job)
We think street music performance allowance is not measureable...
that amplifiers and percussion mustn´t be forbiden
and that it should be the neighbourhood itself which self-regulate...
Good night dear audience we are Swingdigentes a music & dance street company
A fter two years busking in Madrid...
after passing the hat a thousand rounds
and after being fined a lot of times
we are here today, in Penelope hall
How is it going people?!
