Hi, Welcome to Discovery English Studio.
My name is Chad.
We are currently in a English Series called "Real Friends".
Today's lesson is called: Real Friends are....Patient.
Many people say the Bible is kind of like an instruction book for life.
One proverb says, "A hot-tempered man causes an argument,
but a patient man calms a quarrel."
Being a good friend often requires us to be patient.
Let's listen to today's story.
One Saturday afternoon,
four high school boys made a plan to meet at the train station,
then take a bus to the local movie theatre
and watch a movie that had just been released.
All of the boys were very excited
and looking forward to this fun day together.
They decided to meet at 1:30, outside the train station,
next to a popular tea stand.
At 1:20, Max was the first boy to arrive.
He only lived a few blocks from the train station,
so he arrived a little early.
Two other boys, Jon and Terry,
were dropped off by their parents only a few minutes later.
But at 1:40, the boys started looking back and forth,
wondering where their friend Jack was.
Max tried to call him on his phone, but nobody answered.
Jon and Terry were starting to get frustrated.
Terry said, "I have been waiting all week for this!
We better not miss the movie because of Jack!
If we do, I'm going to be very mad!"
Jon also said, "If he doesn't get here in 5 minutes,
I'm going to the movie theatre without him.
The tickets are going to be sold out if we don't get there soon!
Man, where is he??!!"
Max looked at his watch and said,
"Let's give him a few more minutes, I'm sure he will be here soon.
He has to have a good reason why he is late."
Part 2
After ten more minutes of waiting impatiently,
Jon and Terry decided to get on the bus
and go to the movie theatre without Jack.
"I'm serious, if all the tickets are sold out when I get there,
I'm going to give Jack a piece of my mind on Monday!
I mean, what's his problem?!"
Max decided to stay at the train station and wait for his friend Jack.
He bought a tea, sat down
and started to wonder what could be taking his friend so long.
After waiting another twenty minutes,
Jack finally arrived, running and sweating.
Max...I am sorry! You will not believe what just happened.
Just as my dad was getting ready to take me,
my mom cut her finger in the kitchen
and my dad had to take her to the emergency room.
He said I could still come,
but he would not be able to take me in the car.
So, I ran out of my house as quickly as I could,
but I left my cell phone on the table.
So, I couldn't call you and let you know what was going on.
Max said, "It's okay, I knew there had to be a good reason. Let's go!
Maybe we can still get to the movie theatre on time!"
When the boys finally arrived at the movie theatre,
sure enough, all the tickets were sold out.
Jack felt very bad for causing his friend Max to miss the movie.
He looked at the ground
and he asked Max, "Why did you wait for me?"
Max looked at Jack and he said, "It's okay... you are my friend.
If I was late, I hope you would wait for me too!
Anyway, we get to spend the whole day together!
Come on! Let's go get some French fries!"
At that moment, Jack knew he had a really good friend.
