I would suggest to anyone that's transitioning or about the transition
from the military to consider federal service
for several reasons; number one is an opportunity to continue
serving your country in a different capcity but it is also gives you an opportunity to do
something else
for the american people. You know we are what we are because it's based on the
constitution.
You know, our job as senior executives is really to run the
constitution
to make sure that those principles embedded in the constitution
filter down and are carried out
at the departments and the agencies. My experience
being an intern in the Federal service its, it's been
magnificent. I go to class I get to learn about these things and then apply the
knowledge, you know,
to my job and everything just comes together and makes
perfect sense. The advice I'd give for people early in their careers to
do what you're passionate about and what you love and
in a city that, you know, you want to live in because at the end of the day
it's not
gonna be financial issues that
really should attract you to an organization, it should be
the impact you can make and the difference you can make and
I think the federal government offers that. So it's not just about the work
you're doing but it also who you doing the work for.
One of the biggest things I like, is the fact that I feel when I come to work
I'm giving back in terms of service. You know,
joining the Federal service just might be that way that you find out what you
finally wanna be when you grow up.
