What is the lie of religion?
First we must define religion, and the bible defines it this way:
Religion is simply any work we do such as someone who exercises “religiously”.
Jesus taught that religion can never be the way to God unless you are perfect, which he says is untrue.
God’s enemy known as Satan, does not mind you doing good things as long as you end up in the lake of fire with him in the end.
Every belief system, or person that claims you can lose your salvation does not believe that God will save people who simply call out to him.
Ultimately they are placing their trust in something else.
Hindusim teaches that we are stuck in a constant cycle of reincarnation until we do enough good works, or karma to reach a blissful state.
Islam teaches:
Most of Buddhism teaches:
YHVH the god of the Israelites taught them:
YHVH’s holiness prevents him from ignoring evil, and he teaches how the penalty for sinning is death.
He loves you and sent his son Jesus to die in your place so that you could go free, and experience eternal life only through his mercy.
He leaves the decision up to you.
If you want to accept his gift you must desire to turn from what you know to be wrong, then turn to Jesus recognizing that you do not deserve forgiveness, but receive it only because Jesus paid your price.
Some men once asked Jesus the following question, and received this reply:
The lie of religion is that we can approach God on our own worthiness.
It can flatter our ego to believe that we are righteous but YHVH God clearly says:
Why live your life in hopes of eternal life when you can know your destination?
