HI guys. Today I thought I would do you a video addressing a question that
we get asked a lot at Bobby Glam
which is "Can you dye your hair extensions?"
So the long and short of it, the answer is yes,
but there are a few things you need to bear in mind.
So, firstly, the hair extensions can be dyed up to two shades darker.
So when you're choosing your hair color,
if you can't find a color that matches exactly,
you want to go for a color closest to your hair shade.
And then you can dye it by two shades darker.
But we do suggest that you don't go any lighter,
because obviously the hair extensions have been through
kind of chemical processes already.
So lightening them or bleaching them can damage the hair extensions
and ruin the quality.
So if you wanted to, we do have dye-it-yourself hair extensions,
but, again, these can't be lightened, they can only go darker.
But if you wanted to go a lot darker, more than two shades,
you can do this with these.
You will have to pre-pigment them before doing so,
which basically kind of prepares the hair for the darker color.
But if you have any more questions about that,
I'd suggest asking your hairdresser or hairstylist.
If you wanted to go for a really kind of on-trend hairstyle
go for like pastel colors or really vibrant,
I would suggest getting the lightest possible set of extensions that you can.
So either Bunny blond which is a block--the lightest block color,
and Paparazzi which is the highlighted
and this will really enhance, like, the colors of the pastels
which is kind of what you do if you were doing it on a natural hair,
you'd bleach and lighten the hair before going a pastel shade.
Also if you wanted to go for an ombre look,
you can do this, but you can only do it by dyeing the top section darker
as opposed to bleaching and lightening the bottom section.
So you'd want to pick out a set of hair extensions
that, um, are the blond shades you'd like at the end
to match your natural hair or the ombre you've already got,
and then dye the top portion of the hair extensions.
So, yeah, again, up to two shades darker to achieve the ombre look.
So one piece of major advice I would give you
is before you go ahead and dye the full set of hair extensions,
to do a strand test first.
So this means that, um, you can see the color the hair is gonna turn out
so you don't completely ruin a whole set of hair extensions.
Also when you're dyeing them, you want to make sure that the hair
is completely submerged in the hair dye,
so you will need to use kind of more than you would on a normal head,
so maybe a few boxes just to make sure that
it's completely covered and you're gonna get an even finish.
Also when you're rinsing it out, you want to make sure
the hair dye is completely rinsed out of the hair extensions.
and there's none left in.
And then afterwards I suggest washing the hair extensions
and using a really kind of moisturizing conditioner
just to replenish the hair extensions as you would
if you were dyeing your natural hair.
So if you have any more questions about dyeing the hair extensions
that you feel I haven't answered or any more queries,
please leave them in the box below and comment on this video,
and I will try to answer all of them.
So, yeah, I hope this video has helped you, and I will see you all soon.
Bye, guys.
