How to wash natural hair and cleanse the scalp.
In this video I'll also demonstrate how I use conditioner as a detangling aid
You'll want to start by adding your favorite shampoo to an applicator bottle.
I typically use 1 part
shampoo to 6 parts water.
Shake the bottle until the two are well blended. Before applying the diluted shampoo to your hair
saturate your hair with water.
Using the palms of your hands and the pads of your fingers, massage the shampoo
into your scalp. I tend to focus on just the scalp and let the shampoo naturally
naturally cascade down the hair shaft.
Do not use your nails!
Not only is this unnecessary for a good wash, but it is very damaging to the sensitive skin tissue on the scalp.
Thoroughly rinse the shampoo out. Apply a generous amount of conditioner to your hair.
Work it through from roots to ends. For just a few seconds
under the water stream
not to rinse the conditioner, but to "activate" the conditioner a little more.
that morning doing this gives me more slick
Doing this gives me more slip and also helps to more evenly distribute the conditioner.
At this point I let the conditioner sit in my hair while I continue to shower.
You can see I've already started detangling
but all I've done is finger detangle a downward motion
Don't bulldoze through tangles, but do apply a little tension when you do come across one
and let the conditioner's slip help slide it apart.
After rinsing all the conditioner from your hair, grab a t-shirt
and wrap it around your head like a turban
and that's all there is to it folks!
as always thanks for tuning in and I'll see you all next week
