>> GRAYSON COWING: The context of digital media changes the way we interact with the
visual image. We communicate on the internet in ways that we have never had. So the digital
studies major drew me in because, I, with everybody else in my generation, am kind of
experiencing this anxiety - this change, and I want to understand it better. Seeing Rettner
Hall come together has been really fascinating. I've seen them putting up the posts and stuff,
and I've kind of seen it take shape, but what I'm really excited for is what's going to
be inside. The potential it has for unifying engineering and sciences, computer science,
and humanities is pretty impressive. I am excited to see how it looks and works, but
I really like the idea of it being a kind of hub, a center for academic osmosis. The
digital media studies major, it's very special and attractive for a lot of reasons. If you're
personally interested in the production of digital media, which I am personally invested
in, there aren't a lot of majors like it in the country.
