today on farces of nature we will examine the habits of the american robin
here we see the greedy american robin
devouring sumac berries
the robin has been eating so long it has begun to snow
This fellow trying to sneak up on the berries from below
an interesting but completely unnecessary strategy
robins have extremely efficient digestive systems often defecating
before they are finished eating
robins are ferociously protective of their food
if we wait long enough we may see a bloody confrontation
nope, he's a coward
Robins are picky eaters, moving from branch to branch until he
finds a berry that will satisfy his selective palate
unlike many animals robbins cannot tell when they are full, they simply keep
eating until there is no more food
even the biting wind cannot deter the ravenous beasts from gorging themselves
normally the robin will migrate to warmer location when the snow comes
but he's gotten so fat he can't fly
having lost the ability to fly the robin must brave the cold winter
or risk plunging to death on the jagged grass below
