NARRATOR: Health care reform.
You might have heard about it.
It's called the Affordable Care Act - But what does it really mean for you?
Well, for starters, the law could make insurance more affordable for some.
It makes it possible for Americans with health conditions to purchase insurance,
and it removes certain limits and restrictions sometimes included in health coverage in the
past.
Starting in October, you will be able to shop for these new coverage options on your qualified
health insurance carrier's website or through the new health insurance marketplace.
You'll be able to calculate your monthly premium, and see if you qualify for tax credits or
help paying for the cost of coverage.
By 2014, almost everyone in the U.S. will be required to have health insurance of some
kind.
If you don't, you could have to pay a penalty that may increase each year.
