Hello; everyone my name is David Reilly,
and in this tutorial I'll be showing you how to disable Windows 10 automatic updates.
Windows 10 has almost universal acclaim.
From critics to business owners and home users.
It seems everyone has a positive thing to say about Windows 10.
However, it is not all good news.
Users upgrading form previous version have reported issues with their windows PCs.
Mostly because they could be running old software from the Windows XP era.
This issue is very common in large scale business.
To make matters worse
Microsoft are now forcing users to upgrade their machines to Windows 10 if they want to or not.
This decision
has become very controversial
with some users even downgrade as a protest at Microsoft actions.
Is there any good news?
Yes,
there is software that can stop the forced upgrade.
I would recommend “Never10”.
It’s a free tool
that gives you the total control over whether or not you want to upgrade your Windows 7/8.1 PC to Windows 10.
Never10 can be downloaded from GRC.
On the web browser of your choice type grc.com
in the URL bar at the top of the web browser.
You are now on GRC home page.
They are six menus at the top of the page.
Scroll over to “Freeware”,
more options will appear including “Utilities”.
Scroll down to “Utilities”
another menu will appear with a list of tools
“Never10” should be the first one on the list.
Click on “Never10”, you will now be redirected to the “Never10” web page.
Scroll down to “download now” button half way down the page.
Click the button to start the download.
After it has been download you can either open it from your web browser
or by opening it from your downloads folder on your computer.
I am going to open it up from my web browser
a small menu will appear.
You will see the following in red “Windows 10 OS Upgrade is ENABLED for this system”.
Scroll down to the “Disable Win10 Upgrade” button below the main body of text.
Click on the button.
Now the red text has turned to green.
You can exit the programme now.
You can also check Windows Update to make sure it has worked.
Windows Update can be a bit slow, so it could take time for it to be updated.
Remember you can also reverse it by repeating the same actions and enabling it.
Allowing you to update your computer to Windows 10 again.
I recommend you keep “Never10” on your Windows computer.
At 83k this tiny file will not be causing you any storage issues any time soon.
