Let's put into words for the public sphere
why each of us has come here.
- Future of the youth and the country - Social justice (equality of opportunities)
- Professional negotiation with the inclusion of experts (nothing about us, without us)
Why? - For my students' future - For my country's future and for my own
Why? - social justice - equity - access - equal opportunities - mobility
Access should be independent of social and economic background (social justice, mobility)
Politics-free communication on educational affairs
...should not become a victim of power strategies
... AUTONOMY! ...
WE ARE THE ONES WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN WAITING FOR
By the reform of public education and by the nationalization of schools,
the autonomy of public educational institutions
has actually been completely withdrawn, cut down.
This is particularly harmful because problems always emerge locally
and local problems can only get rapid, efficient and adequate solutions locally.
Any higher education institution has the right to design programmes on an autonomous basis.
Education is one of the most important opportunities to, so to say, rise up from poverty.
Communication on educational affairs and issues should be free of party politics.
Education already became a victim of power strategies many times,
it would be worth putting an end to that.
There's a pinch of idealism in this but I think it doesn't work without it.
So, there's a need for the highest degree of tolerance and mutual attention
among people with different views or even with different world views.
[Future of the youth in the homeland]
Free access to knowledge and free movement of workers should be guaranteed.
Suitable conditions for these should be established so that anyone wants to come here, stay here or live here.
Free access to knowledge and free movement of workers.
Definitely, education does need to be reformed
because we need a secondary and higher education system
which provides future prospects for each citizen and for their country as well.
One which is stable, which may be a means to break free from crisis,
even more so because we have historical experience that
one of the best ways of crisis management is not to withdraw money from,
but to invest money in, education
though considering well how and in what to invest.
This is the guarantee of the development of our country
and maybe one of the most important opportunities to prevent falling behind.
Is this relevant here?
Tuition fee in higher education -- NO -- We won't give way to the government
Contracted bondage of students -- NO -- We won't give way to the government
RESPECT, TRUST! We won't let the future of youth to be ruined!
WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO STUDY
We need people who think and act.
This requires everyone to express their opinions
free of party politics, in form of a dialogue.
In this way, a discussion will be realized on our interests, values and rights.
Please forward our message to the Little Prince on his planet:
he is responsible for his rose.
Education is a public matter.
All are concerned in it by direct or indirect interests.
All have an opinion on it, all have ideas and reasons,
and this diversity can provide the basis for a wide consensus.
A duty of the prevailing political power is
to democratically integrate and implement all these in its policies.
Being united gives courage and defence against political manipulation.
Education is a process.
Its elements must be built on each other.
It works well only if the elements complete each other.
Only discussion in a democratic framework
and transcending the narrow scope of self-interest
may be the way to find viable solutions.
Joint commitment, solidarity, learning from each other, joint thinking:
this is democracy in practice.
Thank you.
