The goal of this program is to find the sharpest young people in the state,
go out and recruit them just like Rick Pitino could recruit basketball players,
attract them to come to the University to enter this
program and to realize their dreams.
Meeting the world leaders, meeting national leaders,
meeting state representatives, that is just an astounding experience
and to get the opportunity to do that through the McConnell
Center at such a young age, such a young start in my career
and my education, is truly remarkable and I am so excited to do.
The more and more I heard about the University and the program,
in particular, the more I liked it.
The McConnell Program, I’ve always been interested in political science,
so when I heard that the chance was to interact with people
that also like political science or even political leaders
I thought that was really exciting.
I saw it on UofL’s website and UofL’s the only school I applied to in Kentucky,
but I found the program and I fell in love with it
and after I got an interview I cancelled all my college applications.
I’m going to study political science and econ.
I’m not really sure what I want to do with that,
I’m considering Law School but I just would really like
something that would let me pursue my passion, which is the constitution,
I know that sounds a little crazy, but constitutional law to me is fascinating.
You know, like, the difference between, like,
our government and what the law is and just how you can interpret
it is what really draws me in.
You know, I care more about this more than anything else I do,
outside of my work and my family,
and I’m immensely proud of what it has become,
not because of me but because of the students who come there
and because of the leadership that the team has provided
for these young people.
