Our bodies are like a well-oiled machine.
Just like our cars, for instance.
When the manual of your car says to put in
premium gasoline,
what do you put in the car?
Premium gasoline.
Well, food is our gasoline.
Food is made up of macro-nutrients:
protein, fat and carbohydrate.
It's made up of micro-nutrients,
those vitamins and minerals.
And there are other important elements,
like fibre and water.
All of these together, help our body function
as optimally and well as possible
to be as healthy as we can be.
Because there's so much convenience food,
it's so easy for people to lose touch with
where food comes from.
So eating a lot of those highly-processed foods,
edges out room for us
to really eat the nutrient-rich food.
And so, it's those nutrient-rich foods
that help our body function well.
But when you're eating too many highly-processed foods
that don't have a lot of nutrients,
our body's... kind of running on empty.
When you think of highly-processed foods--
think of some of the packaged food that we get.
You think of those soda pop,
and that sort of thing,
how close to its natural form is it?
Some are so synthetic, it's--
you can't even keep it in the same realm
as natural and wholesome food.
And the more highly-processed food that we eat,
the less room we have
for that naturally nutrient-rich food
that our body really craves and needs.
So, it's important to eat that
highly nutrient-rich food
to run as well as possible.
