So what can you dance Swing to? What types of Swing music are there? Well, there's Swing
music like Big Band jazz, and the Swing rhythms that we think of when we think of, like. When
we think of that really fast, upbeat. So a Lindy Hop might sound something like this.
It's fast, jazzy. Now that's a little fast for dancing West Coast Swing or East Coast
Swing. East Coast Swing might have a little bit slower temper to it and have a little
bit of a bounce to it. It would sound a little like this: [music]. It's got that little pulse.
With West Coast Swing we tend to dance to something a little bit more either Blues oriented,
like slow Blues, or Pop oriented, or Rhythm & Blues. And it would sound something
like this. It's a little more contemporary in its feel, more like something you'd hear
on the radio today.
In closing, if you're looking for Swing music and you want to dance Lindy Hop, it's always
good to go to that late 1920's, 30's, even into the 40's Big Band era. If you're looking
for East Coast Swing, some of the bop music that you would have danced to in the 50's.
West Coast Swing you can do that with Rhythm & Blues, Blues music, all the way up to
today's current, contemporary Pop music.
