OK, we're talking about the basic shooting modes on the Canon 40D. And the first one,
is this green, to select the fully automatic mode, you want to make sure that the green
square is lined up with this white dot on the back of the camera body. And, when you're
in this mode, basically all you need to do is point the camera and shoot. So, the Canon
will automatically use its light sensor to figure out what the exposure settings should
be in this mode. The ISO will be somewhere in between 400 and 800, and the aperture and
shutter speed will automatically be adjusted to make the exposure exactly right for your
needs. So, all you really need to do in the fully automatic mode, is point the camera
at your subject, press the shutter down halfway and allow the camera to focus. And what it
will do is just basically look at the subject that is closest to the camera, and focus there.
As soon as focus is achieved, you can go ahead and press the shutter button all the way down,
and it will take the picture for you. This mode has the least control, but it's very
easy, and probably a good mode to start shooting in.
