Hi this is Russ for cgrundertow. Today i’m taking a look at Medal Of Honor Warfighter.
Two years ago EA rebooted the Medal Of Honor Series, brought in realism and a modern war.
It was a good game that lacked polish, it had its flaws but it was a solid shooter.
How does the sequel fare? Well it fares well in some aspects and lets you down in others.
Let me make this clear, as a multiplayer based game warfighter is a solid title.
However the single player campaign, is sadly one of the shortest games I have ever played.
First lets go over the good.
The storyline is very interesting, its gritty it feels real and has some surprisingly good
acting. The characters are interesting and the overall plot is good.
Theres plenty of exciting set pieces, large scale battles, car chases and some really
visceral action. Combat is gritty and for the most part satisfying.
The guns sounds beefy pack a nice punch. I did find the aiming to be a tad off at times.
It seemed every now and again, that the hit detection was off by a hair.
However the controls are well executed, the game features a peak and lean system. Basically
a first person cover system.
It works quite well, it was immersive and very useful in combat. The car chase segments
offered a feeling of variety and excitement. The entire game has a very realistic feel.
fans of films like Black Hawk Down, Act of Valor, or Saving Private Ryan will enjoy the
authenticity and realism brought to the game.
However the game is very, very short. Most will clear the campaign in three to four hours
flat. This is very disappointing as I was enjoying the game quite a bit.
The gun battles were intense, the story was interesting, and had very high production
values.
Multiplayer is however very fun and well made. With plenty of modes to choose from, a huge
variety of maps, and tons of weapons. It offers a lot.
You will level up, unlock new weapons and perks, and customize your character. This
is satisfying, combat feels solid online, nd the hit detection problems found in the
campaign are thankfully not found in the multiplayer component.
However it does feel a bit unbalanced at times. I am not a fan of killstreaks and never will
be. I find that the killstreaks, unbalance what is otherwise a solid multiplayer experience.
Time will tell if the player base will last. The multiplayer is nothing like you will experience
in a Call Of Duty title. It is similar to last years excellent Battlefield 3. But offers
a new and slightly different experience with a high level of polish.
The entire game is very well made, its just a shame that the campaign is so short. the
mechanics are sound, and the game is fun. If you're interested in a solid, and different
multiplayer experience it’s worth a look.
If you're looking for a great single player experience, you will be disappointed. Its
very well made, and does most things right. But the game is far too short.
