Hi, I'm Candi Cane Canncel with Expert Village. In this clip I'm going to show you how to
make a buttonhole by hand. Say you have machine that doesn't have a buttonhole step or you
are really intimidated by it or you just don't want to bother. You can do it by hand but
the little bit different result but in the end it will still work for a button. So you
just want to take your fabric and measure out the size of your button so in this case
we're going to do a larger button. This is an inch button, so you just want to put it on your fabric and just
measure on the widest points.
Take your ruler and you are just going to draw a line connecting the dots. Then you
are going to take small pointed scissors and you are actually going to cut that line. Don't
go all the way to the end of it because we're going to use the end as a little thing to
secure it. Once you done that you can take thread I'm going to use embroidery thread
for demonstrating purposes.
Take your needle and thread it
if you are using embroidery thread just make sure all the threads are even. Go ahead and
tie a knot at the end you are going to come from the back and start it one end of the
buttonhole.
