"Well, obviously the team have been through a lot in the last four or five years, so we
are very strong mentally to deal with some ups and downs - as we proved last year. I
think we know where we are. We know that we have to keep improving - that is a given,
we are not resting on our laurels. So, a positive team is always nice - yes. But there are other
teams that are keen to knock the stuffing out of us and it is our job to make sure we
stay strong."
"This morning was boring really. I was sat in the office - sorry - sat in my motor home
all morning. These guys (mechanics) were all working flat out to fix the fuel pump issue
that we had and (we were) able to get out at about two o'clock and put some good laps
in. But it's always tricky when you have to wait so long and everyone else is flying around
doing laps and seeing what the car can do whilst you are sat around doing nothing. But
it was good to get out in the afternoon and do some brakes work and do some flo-vis work.
So you can really work out if the aero (aerodynamics) are working correctly, and also to do some
runs, and get a feel for the car and yeah, I have a good feeling with the car and it
doesn't feel like there is anything that scares me about it. I feel very at home within the
car."
"The feeling is nice with the car and it is a good base for the first test so, we will
see. But there are a lot of test days before the first race, the cars are all going to
look very different by the time we arrive in Melbourne, so you can't look at the times
(lap times). All you can do is go by feel and develop the car in the direction that
feels correct to you."
