Hello, my name is Anna Hallberg and I work as an interior designer at IKEA.
If you're one of those who have big cooking dreams-
-and love those big country kitchens-
-but live in a small apartment in the city-
-we have made a solution for you in 7 square meters.
Usually small kitchens are made L-shaped to maximise the floor space.
But what we've done here is to sacrifice a bit of the floor space-
-and made an island-
-to instead maximise the space for cooking, preparing and washing up.
And over here is this trolley on wheels that you easily can move.
Over to your hob and you have some extra space-
-for your pots and ingredients. And when you're ready you just put it back.
Another type of storage is like this - open shelves and like over here:
Rails. Easy to find and easy to grab.
Another way to maximise storage in a small kitchen is to use-
-wall cabinets all the way to the ceiling.
It really maximises your storage space.
We have used glass door panels in this kitchen for several reasons.
It adds to the country style.
It's easy to see and find what you're looking for.
And it also creates an open feeling; spaciousness in a small kitchen.
One decoration tip could be to put your favourite recipes or-
-all of those beautiful pictures you find in magazines-
-inside the glass doors. It personalises your kitchen.
And then, finally, to reach the storage you can do as we did here...
...use a wooden ladder that is foldable.
And easy to put away when you're not using it. Thanks for watching.
