10 Tips on What to Include in Your Promotional Video
We explained last week why you need to use video to promote and market your business,
services and products. Well this week we'll be explaining what makes a good promotional
video and what to include in your video.
Whether your video will be used in your store, on television, on a DVD, on your website or
on social media, there are some key pointers that apply to all of these marketing outlets.
We will be coming from the angle of online video, but the same rules apply across the
spectrum. And if you're not using video online, I suggest you do!
What Makes a Good Online Video?
1. Make sure that your video is relevant to your business and the niche that you're in.
2. Ensure that your topic is clear and that the video is simple to understand.
3. Always bring value to your videos and make sure that it's useful to your target audience.
4. Try and sound clear and enthusiastic, you want to radiate confidence! Smiling will help
this! Even if your face isn't seen in the video, smiling will make your speech sound
a lot more welcoming and engaging.
5. Make your video personal by including yourself! You don't need to do this in every video,
but it is good for your followers, subscribers or potential customers to see. People buy
from people they relate to, they'll trust you a whole lot more if they've seen your
face! It's proven that people are more likely to deal with those who have images of themselves
on their site rather than those who don't.
6. Include Call to Actions. This is a must! You want to direct people with where to go
or what to do next, whether it's to buy something, subscribe, hit a link or simply leave a comment.
This is VITAL in converting traffic to cash, but do NOT overdo this or you'll irritate
the viewer and be seen as spammy!
7. Use Visual Aids & Sound Effects. Whether it is text, pictures, backgrounds, voice-overs
or sound effects, you should utilize whatever you have at your exposal to help put your
point across and enhance the impact of your point. You can also use images
and sounds to enhance your call-to-actions.
8. Branding: You should brand your videos to make you and your business as
memorable as possible. Branding your video with your website URL and logo watermark will
help this. Also, an eye catching intro and outro clip will make your company more memorable.
Another reason for branding is online sharing. It's great if
people share your videos online, but not if they don't know it's YOU!! You should also
brand your video so that people can't steal your video. People can't pass off YOUR video
as THEIR own video if you've stamped it with your brand!
9. Add your own personality to your video. I said you should include yourself in the
video but what makes you different to everyone else out there? Add your own unique character
and personality to your video. You could also think of a twist or a creative way to put
forth the topic you're covering.
10. Keep it ORIGINAL! Don't copy others, be the originator of what you're saying, be the
TREND-SETTER!! This is very important online at the moment because Google are rewarding
original authors of content and penalizing the fakers. Its okay to refer to others content
but the core message NEEDS to be yours.
Video needs to work in conjunction with other aspects of your online promotion; your website,
