I don't have a house, I live on the streets.
I go to bed at 11 at night and I wake up at 5 in the morning,
because security in Lima's municipality always wakes us up at 5 or 5:30am.
At that time, when it's really cold they are waking us up.. And from that moment, starting
at 5:30 or 6am, I start
walking all the streets in Lima.
At night, I sleep in a small park next to the San Peter church. Located in between Azangaro
and Ucayali streets,
right next to the Ministry or foreign affairs.
On the streets? on the streets I have been 32 years. I've been living on the streets
since I was 20 years old. I'm
52 years old now. I was born on 1958.
>>> why so long on the streets?
Because ever since I came here from my town called "Chipote", I came here looking for
better opportunities,
but because I got together with bad company and..
>> do you like to drink?
.. yeah. But I don't like drugs. I hate drugs. I hate drugs. I like drinking, but not in
excess. that's all.
>> what's your future like?
But at 52 years old there's nothing! what future can I have? It's too difficult already.
Here in Lima, Peru..
at 52 years old you can't get employment anymore. They only hire young people only. The only
thing left for me is
just to keep on living like this. I keep on surviving doing things, but nothing bad anymore.
(3 wishes) That the one upstairs allows me to stay alive, that I don't get sick.. and
also thanks to the catholic church that always help us.
he week has seven days, and out of those seven days, the church comes 4 days at night to
give us something to eat
and all that. I don't have breakfast or lunch, but when I go to bed at night at least I get
something to eat in
order to stay alive.
