Every medication used for the treatment of infertility has its own set of side effects.
Some of these are very mild, and in many women there are no side effects at all. Some of
them can be somewhat severe however and have to be recognized.
For some of the oral medications that we use to induce fertility, side effects include
bloating, breast tenderness, moodiness, hot flashes, and feelings of anxiety. Most women
do not have any significant symptoms of this type, but those are the ones that typically
do occur. Some women also will experience feeling bouts of anger, dry mouth, and just
general dryness of the mucus membranes.
For some of the injectable medications that are used to induce ovulation, bloating is
very common, and feeling tired, breast tenderness, and occasional headaches can also occur.
So again, when considering fertility medications, please speak to your fertility doctor about
the medications you're using and the expected side effects.
