At least six-hundred people, mostly women and children, were allowed to leave the besieged
Syrian city of Homs Sunday,... escaping from hunger and isolation for the first time in
more than a year. The Syrian government and rebel forces agreed
on a three-day "humanitarian pause," that began last Friday.
The United Nations and the Syrian Red Crescent carried out the evacuation operations.
Humanitarian workers also succeeded in delivering aid to parts of the city, despite the threat
of mortar attacks and gunfire. Authorities said 2-hundred-50 food packages,
1-hundred-90 hygiene kits and medicine made it inside.
