Hello, and welcome to EyeglassRetailerReviews.com .
In today's video we have a GlassesShop purchase review.
If you're watching from YouTube, feel free to join us at EyeglassRetailerReviews.com
and check out the information and reviews that we have for
GlassesShop as well as for other online retailers.
Now before we open the package and actually take a look at the glasses,
this is a copy of the invoice that GlassesShop sends to you after you've made a purchase.
The frames that we chose were their cheapest - $8 frames. Lenses came free.
An AR coating added $4.95 and shipping was $4.95, bringing the
total price to $17.90 .
So, how long did the glasses take to arrive? Well, they were ordered on August the
11th, we got an email stating they had shipped on the 15th,
and they showed up in our mailbox on August 25th.
The shipping stamp showed they were shipped from China and the total time it
took to arrive was 14 days.
Now here you'll see the packaging that the glasses come in. I've taped over any personal
information just to make it a
little bit more difficult for retailers to figure out where I'm
ordering from and under what names, although
if they really wanted to, I'm sure they could just take a look at the timeline and
figure it out from that.
But, we'll do everything that we can to make sure that
the glasses I order don't receive any special treatment or anything like that.
Now opening it up, you see a box inside.
Unfortunately there's information on that so I've had to
blur this section a little bit.
Pretty standard cardboard box. It's fairly solid - should be pretty
good as far as making sure the glasses don't get damaged.
Now we've just fast-forwarded a little bit here.
You'll see me opening up the box - I had to cut it open because it was actually taped up pretty well,
which is actually a good thing.
The first thing we've got is just a little business card which... we'll just be tossing that
aside.
The second thing is actually a little pamphlet that GlassesShop includes
It's got some decent information in there for how to maintain your glasses,
how to clean your glasses,
and how to wear your glasses.
While most people are probably just going to throw this out, for someone
who's never bought glasses before
and have decided to buy their first pair online, it might be pretty helpful for them
actually.
So now we're just going to pull the clamshell case out of the
little cloth carry bag,
and take a look inside.
First thing we've got is a little keychain screwdriver - great if you're ever replacing the
screws in your glasses or replacing nose pads or anything like that.
Definitely a nice little thing to have around, and nice that they included one.
We've also got the microfiber cleaning cloth right there.
Now the first thing that we're going to do is take a look and make sure there aren't any
obvious defects
with the glasses.
So we're just going to have a quick little look at them in the light,
move them around a little bit so you can see them at different angles and that sort of thing.
Now just again, these are $8 glasses so I don't expect the most
durable & rugged glasses, but the frames are alright -
I have no worries about them breaking or falling apart,
although i would be careful with adjusting.
They aren't hinged as far as the arms go.
They do flex out so if they're slightly smaller than your head, you
shouldn't have too much of a problem,
but again, they aren't hinged.
Now we're just letting a light source reflect off the lens.
You can see the AR coating is reflecting green right now,
and again just looking for obvious defects in the lens and that sort of
thing.
Now the glasses had a little bit of lint and that sort of thing on them,
so I've just
gone ahead and given them a quick wash off with water.
And we're just going to take a look at the lenses yet again.
One thing to note is I did use hot water to wash them off,
and the lenses did survive - the coatings did not crack or anything which
is a testament to the quality of the coatings that they're putting on.
I've definitely purchased glasses in the past that did suffer from cracking under
hot water and these ones did not,
so I was pretty impressed there.
The nose-pads might have to be adjusted a little bit.
They weren't perfect.
And that is really about it for that.
So overall I was pretty happy with the purchase from GlassesShop.com .
For under $20 shipped, I got a pair of prescription glasses, a cloth carry case,
a little keychain screwdriver, and a little pamphlet as well.
The frames were pretty decent - for $8 I wouldn't expect a whole lot
more. The nose pads did need a little bit of adjusting,
so there were some little things there, but the quality of the lens was really good.
There weren't any defects at all, and the AR coating did hold up to the hot water test
which I was pretty happy about for a pretty budget pair of glasses.
So would I buy from GlassesShop again?
The answer to that would be yes.
For under $20 shipped,
really it's a pretty decent pair of glasses even though it needed some
adjusting and that sort of thing,
and they are pretty basic frames, I was particularly impressed with the AR
coating - how it didn't crack under the hot water test.
As far as "Would I recommend GlassesShop to others?", I definitely would not
have any hesitations recommending to others - particularly first-time
buyers
might really get some advantage out of the little pamphlet it includes. I mean, it's just
a cheap little pamphlet that comes along
but it's got stuff like you know how you shouldn't use Kleenex
to clean your glasses and that sort of thing
which someone who's never owned glasses before might not know, and that
definitely is something helpful to include along.
So that's all for the GlassesShop review.
I hope you've found it to be helpful. If you'd like to leave a comment feel free to do so on
