Susan, do you have a question for Dr Sean Reed?
I've got a problem with my dog. I mean, every day when I go off to work he barks
and the neighbours have been complaining. And I'm just not quite sure what to do.
Okay, what he's doing is called separation anxiety. And so he's
becoming insecure because you're leaving. The thing that you can do
is to disguise that routine so put your keys up next to your bed so
they're in your pocket and he doesn't see you picking them up...
So, how's he been this week, Ed?
He's been a bit sore, actually.
Okay, yeah, he's actually standing like he's a bit sore there.
We'll get this bandage off and give him some painkillers.
Be brave, big man. Good man thats it.
Okay. I'll show you that tract that he had, that's
getting quite a lot smaller so that's improving.
Okay, Zen, that's you done, mate. Thanks Sean.
Oh, Joy's coming in. She's got Gemma with her. I hope it's nothing too serious; she's
had some real problems with that dog in the past. Hate giving people bad news.
Hi Ang, what have we got today?
Hi Sean, you have... Mrs Whitehead is here waiting for you. There's three
consults and one surgery, and you're rostered on all weekend this weekend.
Okay, for Saturday and Sunday?
Yeah for both days.
Okay, righto, there goes the weekend.
Okay, Richard, surgery tomorrow on that leg. You're looking nice and comfortable. Those
painkillers look like they're doing their job. Good fella - you look pretty happy.
I'm glad they're going ahead with that surgery on Goldie.
It's got to be a hard decision for them,
it's a lot of money, but I'm glad that we're going
to be able to sort her out and have her on her way.
Hi Joy, how are you?
Hello Sean, how are you today?
Good.
I'm alright but Gemma's not very well.
Okay, pop her up and we'll have a look. Good girl, Gemma.
And what's she been up to, Joy?
She's been vomiting quite a bit. Okay.
And she's been off her food Yep.
And very lethargic. Right. She doesn't want to go outside very much.
Okay, let's whizz her around, Joy, and have a look
at the back end. You said she's been drinking well?
Yes, she's been drinking a lot of water.
What I think we'll need to do is get some bloods from her and maybe get some x-rays.
Take good care of her, won't you? Will do, Joy.
Sean.
Yeah
I've got this parrot that a lady brought in. She found
it in her back yard. It's not moving around too much.
Okay, there's nothing broken there. I'd say it's flown into
something and is a bit bruised. We'll get it on to a heating post.
That's it!
Oh, I'd better ring the school about that talk to the
kids on Friday. They're grade 1s and 2s, so we'll
just keep it simple and just a little bit about how
to look after their own pets. That should do it.
Are you ready? Yeah.
I wonder what Beachy's up to nowadays.
I think he must have been about the only one who
didn't faint first time we did surgeries at uni.
It used to be good fun trying to catch people as they went over though.
Okay, all fixed.
Yep?
Okay Maureen, he's got colic again, has he?
Yeah, calm down, Maureen, he'll be fine. I'll get out there as quick as I can.
Hello, Sean?
How are you going, Maureen? Good, thanks.
Yeah, he's definitely got colic. He's got a bit of wind
and a bit of sand there. So we'll get that on the go now.
Alright, Maureen, we'll just get him on a diet of,
if you could just give him a really coarse hay...
Oh! What a day. Still, weighing up the good and the
bad, I think I'd rather do this than anything else.
