One of the primary goals of this channel is to put maximum power in the people's hands.
What happens with hierarchical institutions is there's a disproportionate amount of aggressive,
nasty, sociopathic people that reach positions of power. And there're polluting the public
discourse. People that dominate the public discourse have a distorted view of reality
and that's what I wanted to point out: that Chomsky is pointing out that the media is
presenting a very distorted view of the world. There is an intellectual community of which
the media are a part, which, I don't have time — I'll talk about it if you like, but
it does give an extremely skewed picture of the world. What I am saying is if you take
an average of human decency of the American population, people in these positions in the
media are a lot more likely to be in the group with the least amount of human decency . And
what I mean specifically is to refer to starting world war three as simply "an option." How
dare you! You sick-minded filth that dominate our public airways! How dare you talk about
starting a war, an ILLEGAL war, as simply "an option." A crime is not "an option" anymore
than I can weigh my options … Is that one of my options against media people that I
don't like what they're saying? No, it is not an option. Is it? So let's be crystal
clear: that's not an option but you sick *** keep prodding our presidents and asking them
to use war powers which they have no right to use. Let's say the says are numbered of
the status quo and that we must establish a representative media that will allow the
general population to influence how
the world is
viewed
on television.
