Bm scale lesson YouTube
Hey there, Im Tomas Michaud from Real Guitar School and TomasMichaud.com. I hope youre
here today because you wanna learn the B minor scale. If you do, youre in the right place.
Not only am I gonna teach you the B minor scale but Im gonna show you a fun way to
practice it and a way to use it to start improvising in a little Spanish flare.
So lets get started, the B minor scale, were gonna do a fairly simple version one
today, its not the only one I use but its a good one to start with. Let me show you
what it sounds like (strumming) and Im gonna stop there so go ahead and get your
fingers ready on the second fret fifth string, here we go- now third finger, fourth fret
and the fifth fret with the pinky. Go on over to the fourth string, first finger, third
finger and pinky now were on the third finger with the first finger and the third finger
on the fourth fret onto the second string, first finger second fret, second finger thats
the third fret and then the fifth fret with the pinky and finish up on the first string,
third fret second finger and pinky.
Now lets go down, pinky, third fret, first string, second fret, going on second string,
third fret, down to the second fret, third finger on the third string fourth fret, second
fret now go over to the fourth string fifth fret, third finger, first finger and finally
the fifth string, third finger and then on the first finger. So do that one more time
with me. Im not gonna call it out this time, nice and slow. Start with the first
finger second fret fifth string, ready go. (strumming) now going down.
Okay now for a fun way to practice this. One way to practice this is, after you got the
hang of fingering it is to play it along with the backing track. Im gonna show you what
it sounds like with the backing track in the key of B minor ready go, 1, 2, 3, 4 so
when youre ready, you can try doubling that speed
and then try improvising along with that so Im just gonna start picking some notes.
Hey, its okay to stretch a little. Try adding some notes. Watch this.
Thanks for joining me today. If you are on YouTube, please give me a like and also head
on over to my blog, sign up for my mailing list so I get you weekly lessons but also
youll find a download sheet that will help you with this lesson. I put the fingering
on a sheet for you. Take care for now.
