SuperHot is about time.
Hello ladies and gentlemen. Thank you very much for tuning in!
I'm sorry I've been away for a while but I'm now here to bring you
SuperHot.
Now, time only moves when you move.
well so I'm sorry about the absence but
I'm now back and I've got a better internet connection so hopefully that means more
videos but for now I'm just gonna show you a little bit about
SuperHot.
So time only moves in this game when you move and well
This game's got significant press coverage lately because of this
mechanic. A lot of people are comparing it to Braid saying it's like Braid with guns
Which is a very minimalist kind of way of putting it but
You know, I can't say it's incorrect! So what this does
is time only moves when you move as I just said and
this kind of leads to a whole new kind of puzzling element
where you know you can kinda position your shots and position yourself and see
where bullers are going. It's all very fantastic.
This was originally developed during the seven-day FPS challenge,
and what the developers are now doing is they're now gearing up for a full
release of the game on GreenLight and what I'll do is put a link there so you can
check this out if you do like what you see.
Well the developers are a small Polish team I do believe I'll put the names up
on the screen as well because
I've tried pronouncing their names and I just can't do it and I don't want to
offend anyone by not being able to say their names
the game is currrently running on Microsoft's Silverlight
which is a trend I'm seeing a lot lately a lot of people seem to be trending
toward Silverlight and away from flash
which I think is fantastic. It's
just so much better than flash. It's so much faster, runs better, is much better
optimized so we may
very well be seeing flash die very soon.
This is also built on Unity as well so it's built on Unity running through Silverlight
and the Unity Engine as you very well know is well on its way up
so let's show you a little bit more about the game so it is a
first-person shooter.
So what you need to do - Shoot
And kill. Very simple. But
the most important aspect about the game is the fact that as I have said time only moves
when you move
and that was such a lucky move for him
that's just not fair!
But it's so...
it just feels fantastic just - I've missed him again haven't I?
Blimey. But it's just so fantastic just being able to take out enemies in slow
motion, see them fly backwards
you know, you see the bullet trail, see everything it's just so good.
It just feels so good. so what you wanna - That was the worst shot I've ever seen as well
So what you wanna do is just you basically want to make sure that you're not shot.
And well the game seems to like repeating
the words "SuperHot". I'm not entirely sure why I mean it's a
theme that the Developers seem to be going with themselves
something that they're going with very much. It's
all over the Greenlight page if you just look on the GreenLight page
you know "SuperHot" is all over the place. I mean obviously it's the name of the game
but they're like also using the phrase independently.
It's absolutely fantastic seeing the gun
fly in front of your face like that as well evry time you throw it away
Kind of like throwing it away in triumph.
Now this part is incredibly difficult
as I've said it is like a puzzle game so some parts can be incredibly
difficult. You need to be constantly aware of your surroundings at all times
and this bit is devilishly
difficult. But at the same time
You can see where the bullets are coming from and where they go and so it is
easy enough to avoid.
Easy enough I say as I die.
now there are times where they can be a
really bad shot.
and
there are also a good few moments in this game where bullets seem to collide as well
And I can't believe I beat that bit that
quickly because it took me forever to do that the first time I played it through.
and they're also sections like this as well where enemies just come from
every direction
and you've got just be really careful you've got to be constantly aware of your
surroudings as I
said.
They even appear behind you as well
but that is the fun part of this game.
The fun part is being able to
just kind of take your time and figure out
where the next shots gonna come from. No ammo.
That's very dangerous.
So there's no reload machanic in this game as well which is something I'm
not used to because I'm the kind of person who
tends to reload every single time there's a period of
silence
But in this game if you reload or if you press "R" you
you lose your gun.
Which is obviously not what you want to happen.
See I love how the sound speeds up
And slows down as well. Okay, where's the last guy gonna come from?
Right there!
Oh and the lighting is fantastic as well
I love the lighting in this game.
It is... truly for an Indie game it is
surprisingly well made, fantastically thought through.
And as I've said there is a Greenlight page if you want to support the
development if you like what you're seeing,
then you can. Now it comes up saying Boss Fight here
but I find it very strange. It's
the strangest boss fight that I've ever experienced. But you need to kill the
CEO of this company.
and it urges you, almost desperately, that you need to kill him
but he has no gun, I have no guns. The only thing that you can do is take him down.
But then this happens...
Now,
I was very surprised when I came up because it it suddenly struck me that
there's going to be some kind of narrative to the full thing
I mean as you can see in the bottom right hand corner it does say trial version
so there is going to be a full release in some kind of way
um but yeah it kind of hit home that there's gotta be something much deeper
to this and now it's kind of just left me wanting a real story
"You have served
me well. Now,
dispose of yourself." It's a very
Andrew Ryan from Bioshock kind of ending if you ask me,
which is very much a good thing and
I think the developers have put a lot of thought into this. "Just
walk through the window."
Simple as. Just do what he says.
"Stop. You've been a good boy."
And that is the end of "SuperHot".
So I do hope you've enjoyed what you've seen.
I'll leave a link here so that you can play the game yourself, as I said I'll also leave you the
Greenlight link as well
and I'll also put down those developers names because they obviously they deserve the
mention.
so what I'll do then is I'll leave you all of that information
feel free to follow @SuperHotTheGame on Twitter
for a little bit more information about the development and the release of the
game
and well I hope you've enjoyed this video. If you have feel free to subscribe
to me
and if not then feel free to leave a comment telling me why
you know criticism is always a good thing and well I will hopefully see you in the next
