What is Financial Aid?
Financial aid is money set aside by the Federal and State Governments to help people pay for a college education.
Financial aid can come in the form of: Grant, Loan, Scholarship, and Work Study.
In order to have access to Financial Aid, you need to fill out the FREE Application for Federal Student Aid, also known as the FAFSA.
The FAFSA can be found online at www.fafsa.gov
You should not pay to complete your FAFSA, since it is a FREE application.
Before you apply for your FAFSA, you will want to register for your Federal Student Aid Pin at www.pin.ed.gov.
Students and parents of dependent students both need to apply for a PIN.
The New York State application for the Tuition Assistance Program, also known as TAP can be found at www.tapweb.org.
A Student must be a New York State resident in order to be considered for TAP.
