Hi! Today I will show you the manicure
that I do daily to my nails,
the products that I use
and some tips to have healthy nails.
First I’ll talk a bit about manicure to obtain healthy nails.
There are several types of nail files, with different types of grain.
They are numerated. For example, 100, 120, 180, etc.
The higher the grain is, the more grain the nail file will bear.
A 180 nail file will be thinner than a 100 that has less grain.
Then you have the glass nail file.
You may use it on soft and fragile nails.
This file is very soft. It won’t harm your nail.
However, I don’t use it for my nail since it is too thin.
It will take me several hours to file my nails.
This nail file has several grains.
This one, has a banana shape.
And this one is for professionals.
If you only have to file your nail, simply use a straight file and it’ll be ok.
To file my nails, I use the 180 file.
Now I’ll show you how I position my nails to file them.
So as not to spoil your nail, file them always in the same direction.
Like this.
Then it’s up to you to give it the shape that you want.
To prevent to file your nail awry,
do it when you’re wearing a dark nail polish.
I will allow you to know if you have a file your nail correctly or not.
Without a nail polish on your nail, it will baffle you.
Shape it according to the delimitation of your nail polish.
Before may sure that the delimitation is done correctly.
Or else it will mislead you while filing your nail.
So file it when it bears nail polish
and give it the desired shape.
I do not file my nails in a square shape
but with the file inclined like this.
Here’s how I file my nails.
You have the choice, whether in a square shape
or in an inclined direction.
My nails are filed in a bevel edge.
Seen from the front, you’ll have a round shape.
Done this way, it will allow you to gain much time
since you’ll only have to apply it only in this way.
And now to prevent the nail from splitting in two,
I file my nail with an ultrafine grain.
And I file it this way all the edges.
to prevent it from having several shocks causing it to break the angle.
It is very important to file your nail in this direction.
To prevent it from splitting in two
Or you can file the top of your nail but only the edge.
To remove the areas damaged by the file.
Of course you should not cut it with a nail clipper, I will damage your nail.
I always apply varnish on my nail. All the time.
Some people say that it damages the nail.
I don’t agree at all.
On the contrary the varnish strengthens your nail by penetrating the keratin.
Thus there is no need to have a break.
I apply varnish since 6 years and I never give a break to nails and they are in perfect health.
A break is mostly recommended when you do UV gel.
Otherwise it’s not really worthy.
However, your nails will become yellowish even when you use a base.
That’s why I use once a month a four side nail buffer block.
to remove the first layer of keratin so that the yellow which is present can disappear.
And I will help to have white nails.
Another important thing to avoid:
Dry cuticles and dry skin everywhere are not beautiful.
Thus the varnish will be difficult to apply because the cuticles will annoy you.
Thus it won’t be very good looking.
Every 15 days or once a month, I use an emollient product.
you should not do it every three days.
Or else it will damage your nails.
So I use this product. The references are in the description below.
So it’s the blue cross. As you can see the bottle is huge
It is quite fluid alike water
And you just have to add one drop on your cuticle
And you let it work for some seconds
Then I will remove my cuticles with this stainless steel tool
This is my favorite tool but you can also use small wooden sticks or silicone sticks
But this one removes the cuticles best
And the small scalpel that scrapes away the dead skin
I have made a video on this product that is somewhat old
Watch it.
Then...
Now, the nippers
They are very useful when you have skin on the sides
The nippers look like that and it's a bit frightening.
They are not meant to cut the cuticles
The cuticle is the skin right here. So never cut your cuticles.
They are like hairs. The more you cut them, they will grow hard and messy.
The nippers are used to cut the small skins that you have sometimes
So you only have to take the nippers and to cut them like that.
I use them because I have those skins a lot on the thumb’s sides
Since I use a lot my thumb and index finger
Because they are the two fingers which get a lot of these skins
Hence I cut them with the nippers.
Now for the products that I use
Let us start with the nail polish remover
It’s true that there are a lot of brands for the nail polish removers that are not effective
The one that I have found and suites me well
But I have indeed not tested all the nail polish removers
The one that I usually buy is the Marque Repère from E. Leclerc
It is not expensive at all, and costs less than one Euro.
It is really good. It does not contain acetone and damages less the nails and dries them less.
When the nail polishes are very resistant,
you may use the supermarket’s acetone.
That you can find in the drug store corner
Do not use this product often.
Because it the long run it will dry your nails, peel them or break them.
But this is not a powerful chemical product. You can use them on your nails without any problem.
After that, you must hydrate your cuticles
Because it will leave your skin all white and dry, and ugly.
But you can use the acetone without any problem
Hence, I have another product that I use before applying the base coat
Called a pre base coat. I use it just after a shower
Or if I’ve washed some dishes
Or if I have greasy nails because if have cooked or something
This pre base polish is very efficient made of alcohol
What it does is that it will regulate the Ph in your nails
And will allow the base to hold better
As it will remove every grease and water particles on your nails
It will thus allow the nail polish to last longer.
I do not use it often it is still optional, tut if you have a problem with the wearing of your polish
You can make use of this product.
Now I will tell you about the base polish.
My favorite base polish is that one, from Poshé.
It strengthens my nails and dries fast.
And that will make a thick and glossy base.
This is the type of base polish that I like
I don’t like thin base polish that don’t shine
Even if I know that it might be good.
I prefer this base polish
In addition, you can go out with nail polish; you will have a shining and natural effect nevertheless.
Then you will apply your two coats of colored polish
You take what you want
My favorite brand is Color Club
I love this brand because they have lots of colors and have various textures
The brushes are thin like I like them
It’s true that I don’t like thick brushes like at Opi for example
That's it.
Then, one major step is the application of the top coat
It will make your manicure shine,
hold and protect it, almost everything.
The top coat is not only a transparent polish which is useless
It is really a polish meant for that.
I have many that I like but there's my favorites.
The first one is the “Poshé”. It is really good.
Perhaps you know the dry fast
It is good but when you are half-way of the bottle,
it is dry inside the bottle and you cannot use it anymore!
It is a real waste for me
But it is really good when it is new but half-way through it is useless
But the “Poshé” on the contrary it doesn’t move
I have bought this one five years ago
You can see it is still flowing very well
I have never diluted it because I didn’t buy the diluter of the same brand
And now... the top coat that I like much
Know that I use the Poshé only for glitter or 3D nail arts.
The one that I like much is the Revelon.
The Revelon polish is a very liquid top coat.
I don't use it for 3D nails arts.
But only when I have only painted them
It is very effective and dries extremely fast
I like much this product, it is not really a top coat
It is like a transparent polish
But it will allow you to refresh your manicure
When it starts to scratch a little after 3 or 4 days and when it shines less
It is not made to protect, because it is too liquid
But it will allow you to give a new glow to your manicure
And the very last product that I use at the end of my manicure
It is this product: the Dry Ice
It is very effective you surely know it
It is the magic drop that you put on your nail, that spreads everywhere and makes your polish dry
I have not analyzed though if it dries faster
But it will help avoid hair to get stick to your nails
For example you can make a call right afterwards
It will prevent cat’s fur from sticking on it
You can put your coat back on right afterwards
You will not get bed sheet marks on your nails if you have made it at night
It is a very effective product I put it every time to avoid the worse
Besides I have a cat at home.
Now let's talk about moisturizing the cuticles
You can moisturize your cuticles when you are no polish
Or when you have your polish
Because the importance is to hydrate the baseline of your nails
You do not have to moisturize the whole nail
They are several products for moisturization.
The first one that I have and that I apply before going to bed
Because it is very greasy and you will not be able to use your hands for some hours
Is the cuticle butter from “Lush”
And it is a very solid, fattish and smells like citrus.
But it really hydrates your cuticles and is really perfect
Afterwards you have the same thing but from another brand
You have the stick version
This one I put it in my handbag and I apply it as soon as I have the opportunity to
It is really very effective!
You can have it also in liquid, cuticle oil.
This one is the LM Cosmetics
It is very good and smells nice strawberry and other scents
But it is not a greasy oil like olive oil
It is more dry, alike monoil
Hence it will not enter though the skin but it will moisturize it
This one I will apply it just after the Dry Ice.
To moisturize after using a nail polish remover.
Or the pre base product that I have applied, that eventually dries fast as it is made of alcohol
Here you are for the products that I make use of
And now the final step is the moisturization of the hands for a beautiful skin.
I have many kinds of cream but here are these two.
That I use as an everyday cream, it’s from the brand Olive Tree
I love it because it gets through the skin really fast and does not leave an oily feeling in the hands
And when you wash your hands, it does not leave an oily sensation
I hate this as I am always cooking
I find this really effective
I apply it at least 10 times per day
As I wash my hands I apply some as I hate to feel my hands dry
It's a nice one.
This night cream is a very hydrating cream
From the brand Alpaderm, made in Switzerland and comes from the Alpes.
It is really good.
Here you are for the products that I make use of
For those having thin nails, there is a lot of care to provide.
Never go out without a base polish
Always apply a base
Because every impact alike getting your hand in your bag may damage your nails.
So apply two base polish coats if you do not have time to apply some nail polish
But never go out without nail polish
There are thickening nail products as a cure
I’ve used this one 3 years ago, the Mavala Scientific.
It repaired my nails. They were peeling off and were thin.
Mavala Scientific consolidates the Keratine coats together again.
So it has really useful and effective.
There are several other brands like Herome, Ecrinal which are not bad.
What else... hmm...?
Then you ask me a lot “How do you for your polish to stay that long?”
I have thick and solid nails; hence my polish stays between 1 or 2 if I am careful
The varnish will stay according to your nail’s state
If you have very thin nails, it won’t last; you cannot do anything about it.
The first thing to do is to thicken your nails.
You will see that with thicker nails the polish lasts longer.
Eventually it will depend on how you did the manicure
How you have applied the varnish and it depends on many other things.
