Welcome to DoDEA News in a Minute, I'm Andrew Holloway.
Many DoDEA schools are getting a much-needed facelift. With funds from Congress many schools
across the DoDEA spectrum are being rebuilt from the ground up or undergoing major renovations.
The effort is aimed at meeting the new teaching and learning style of 21st century education.
Adrian Talley, principal deputy director for DoDEA, said students learn differently now
and the schools need to match how they learn.
"Schools today are very different from the schools that you and I went through because
our children are different. I think the new buildings that we are going to build will
grow and change with the children."
Mr. Talley added that our schools must be able to meet the educational goals of the
21st century. DoDEA hopes to have around 70 percent of its schools replaced or renovated.
