Monitoring Active Readings
This tutorial will show you
how to monitor active course readings in Blackboard via Ares.
If you are not already logged into Ares via your my.ryerson account,
follow the steps as outlined in the first video
and select the course you would like to view.
Part 1: Student View
To view course readings from the student perspective,
select the "Switch to Student Mode" link at the top left-hand side.
To switch back, simply click the "Switch to Instructor Mode" link.
Part 2: Usage Statistics
To view the number of times students access an item,
click on "Course Reading Item Usage"
under Instructor Class tools on the left menu.
The items will be listed in the order of most viewed.
This will enable you to assess the usefulness of materials selected
and plan for repeated use or removals in future courses.
You may view detailed usage of each item by clicking on its respective link,
which will tell you how many times an item was viewed in a single day.
To find out how to clone reserve items after a course ends,
take a look at our next Ares video.
You can also contact the library for additional assistance.
Thanks for watching our monitoring active readings video!
