I started a multi skills course.
That involved electrical,
mechanical, and welding.
I felt my progress wasn't going anywhere so I asked
if I could change the course
to full time fabrication and welding.
He is a very strong young man and
he knows exactly what direction he wants to go in and
he just keeps going. He just wants to
continue to progress.
I found it interesting so I
stuck in and
got ahead of the work.
I was doing well for myself on that course.
Halfway through my first year
I found out my mother had
lung cancer so she was diagnosed with that then
I lost her.
As it came into my
third year
I found out my father had lung cancer as well so
that was another loss for me.
I've tried not to let it effect my studies.
I try to put things to one side and
continue doing what my mother and father would like me to be doing and not
go off the tracks like
you potential could. It has been a huge thing
for him to bare and to pull himself together and
progress the way he has
throughout his apprenticeship.
Hopefully work
goes well within the industry and I'll hopefully
maybe move on,
go off the tools
and get a higher job, more income.
I'd like to secure my house for myself and my two sisters
so I'll always
have somewhere to fall back on.
I've stayed there for twenty years so
it's my home.
That's the way I feel about it.
